Lady Reds To Face Concordia (Wis.) To Open Bloomington, Ill. Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA announced Monday that the #24 Carthage College Lady Reds will be heading to Bloomington, Illinois for their first round matchup of the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship Regional, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University, against Concordia University of Wisconsin.
 
The Lady Reds, who enter as the region's six-seed, advanced to the national tournament after winning the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's automatic berth on Saturday, after defeating top-seeded Millikin University in five sets.  Carthage finished the year 25-8 and are currently riding a ten-match winning streak into the tournament.
 
Concordia enters the tournament at 28-2 overall and as an AQ after winning the North Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament title over Aurora University on Saturday.  The Falcons also enter the match riding a long winning streak, having won 14 in a row coming into Thursday's regional quarterfinal.
 
In their only head-to-head matchup this season, the Falcons handed the Lady Reds their lone loss at Tarble Arena, as Carthage fell on September 16th, 3-1.
 
Carthage and Concordia (Wis.) will face-off in the third match of the day at 5:30 p.m.  Thursday will begin with Washington University (Mo.) vs. Calvin College at 12:30 p.m. followed by Millikin University vs. Greenville University at 3:00 p.m.  The day will conclude with Illinois Wesleyan facing the University of Chicago in the day's final match at 8:00 p.m.
