KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College men's soccer team won their second in a row on Friday night at Art Keller Field, defeating the Lakers of Silver Lake College in a non-conference match, 4-3.
The win moves the Red Men to 7-5-1 overall on the season, while the Lakers fall to 7-3-1.
The Red Men responded strongly after falling behind 2-0 in the opening 17 minutes behind a pair of Laker goals.
Four straight goals for the Red Men with a pair by
Richard Flores in the 34th and 60th minute, and
Sahr Mahoney with two in the 56th and 64th minutes. For Flores the pair of goals give him three on the season, while Mahoney's are the first two of his season.
Silver Lake responded with their third goal in the 69th minute but the Carthage defense allowed just two shots on goal the entire second 45 minutes to seal the win.
Next up for the Red Men, Carthage will host College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival North Park University in a pivotal match at Art Keller Field on Wednesday, October 11th at 7:30 p.m.
