Big Games Against Bluejays and #20 Titans Ahead for Lady Reds

KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team (9-5, 2-2 CCIW), who are in sole possession of fifth place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, will seek to maintain playoff positioning at Art Keller Field against Elmhurst College on Wednesday, October 18 at 5:00 p.m. The Lady Reds will then make their presence known at #20 Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday, October 21 at 4:00 p.m.
 
A three-game win streak is on the line for a Carthage team that posted back-to-back shutout wins over North Park (3-0) and Millikin (2-0). The victories resulted in Danielle Noverini (offense) and Darcy Stoecklin (defense) landing CCIW Players of the Week on Monday.
 
Anna McHatton leads all CCIW players with 0.50 assists per game and seven total assists. Erin Otto sits atop the Lady Reds scoring chart with six goals and four assists for 16 points, followed by Maggie Washelesky's five goals and three assists for 13 points. Emily Furmanek leads the Carthage goalkeepers with a 2.07 goals against average, a .684 save percentage and 54 saves over 13 appearances.
 
ABOUT ELMHURST COLLEGE (8-4, 2-3 CCIW)
 
Like Carthage, both of Elmhurst's CCIW victories this season came via the shutout (4-0 Millikin, 1-0 North Central). The Bluejays, who fell to the Lady Reds 2-0 last season, are in seventh place with four contests remaining. Kim Stanczak leads the team with three goals and seven assists for 13 points, while Sidney O'Keeffe and Jami Lessila each sport 11 points. Goalkeeper Sophia Tuiglowski paces the conference with a 1.02 goals against average over 10 appearances.
 
As a team, Elmhurst leads the CCIW with 2.42 assists per game, 7.92 points per game, an .821 save percentage and 29 assists.
 
Paul Webster is in his 14th season as Elmhurst head women's soccer coach. Carthage owns an 11-8-2 all-time record against the Bluejays.
 
ABOUT #20 ILLINOIS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY (11-3, 3-1 CCIW)
 
The Titans, who face Millikin on Wednesday, opened this week with a 2-0 loss to Wheaton (Ill.) on Monday. Cameron Hindel paces the conference with 1.85 goals per game, 11 goals and three game-winning goals. Hindel's 24 points on the season is more than double of anyone on the Titan's roster. Kelli McCarthy leads the Illinois Wesleyan goalkeeper staff with a .767 save percentage, five shutouts and a 1.05 goals against average.
 
The Titans are in a tie for second place in the CCIW with North Central (Ill.). 
 
David Barrett is in his 18th season as Illinois Wesleyan head women's soccer coach. Carthage is 9-13-3 all-time against the Titans.

The Lady Reds will conclude the 2017 regular season at Carroll (Wis.) on Wednesday, October 25 at 5:00 p.m. before they host Augustana (Ill.) on Saturday, October 28 at 5:00 p.m.
