KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's basketball team returned to Tarble Arena for the first time in nearly a month on Wednesday afternoon to take on North Park University. The Lady Reds were in pursuit of pushing their post-Christmas record to 3-0 for the first time since the 2013-14 season, when they rattled 13-consecutive victories.
Â
The Vikings are led by Amani Davis, who entered Wednesday's bout with an NCAA Division III-leading 4.14 assist turnover ratio. The Lady Reds did their part to lock down Davis as she only mustered one assist and two turnovers. That coupled with
Autumn Kalis's six-of-six outing from the three-point line helped Carthage secure a 65-50 win over North Park.
Â
The Lady Reds improve to 8-4, 3-1 CCIW while North Park falls to 8-5, 1-3 CCIW.

Lady Reds 65, North Park 50
Â
Kalis put the finishing touches on a 14-2 Carthage run to open the first quarter with a three-pointer at the 2:33 mark. A pair of layups from
Maggie Berigan down the stretch of the opening frame propelled the Lady Reds to a 21-6 cushion.
Â
A pair three-pointers from Kalis lifted Carthage to their largest advantage of the game at 34-11 with 4:35 left in the second quarter before North Park answered the bell. Five points from Clarissa Ramos sparked a Viking 11-0 run to conclude the second quarter to narrow Carthage's lead to 34-22.
Â
A pair of Liz Rehberger field goals got the Vikings within seven points of the Lady Reds on two occasions, with the latest coming at the 6:24 mark of the third quarter. This provoked Carthage head women's basketball coach
Tim Bernero to burn a timeout, which proved to be what the doctor ordered. A pair of Kalis three-pointers generated a Carthage 10-4 run en route to a 49-36 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Â
North Park only got within 10 points of the Lady Reds once the rest of the contest once to secure a 65-50 victory.
Â
The Lady Reds held North Park to 16-of-74 (.216) from the field, the lowest figure they've held any opponent faced this season. Liz Rehberger registered 19 points on 6-of-28 shooting for the Vikings. Her 28 field goal attempts were two shy of a Carthage single-game record for attempts for an individual opponent in a game.
Â
The Vikings tallied only nine turnovers to four assists.
Â
"They just dribbled the ball out," said Bernero. "They didn't pass the ball at all, they only had four assists, so they dribbled until they put a shot up. On the other hand, we had 17 assists, which proved to be the difference."
Â
Kalis paced the Lady Reds with 18 points while
Morgan Harris tallied a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Â
The Lady Reds will return to action on Saturday, January 7 against Elmhurst College at 5:00 p.m.
