PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Following a 3-0 sweep of MSOE on Friday, March 18, the Carthage College men's volleyball team (RECORD, MCVL RECORD) returned to the court on Saturday, March 19 to take on the Lakeland College Muskies (RECORD, MCVL RECORD). The Red Men earned the No. 3 ranking for the sixth week in a row in the March 15 AVCA Men's Division III Top 15 Poll.

The scored stayed tight throughout the first set as no team would earn a lead margin or more than three points. With the score tied 19-19, Carthage made a three point run with
Matt Reinsel serving to take the lead 22-19 over the Muskies. Carthage would win the first set 25-22 on a kill by
Griffin Shields. Shields recorded eight kills in the first set.

Carthage started the second set with a 6-1 run with Reinsel service once again. The early lead was too much for the Muskies to overcome as the Red Men held the lead for the entirety of the set. Carthage eventually took the second set 25-19, extending their lead, 2-0.

Once again, Carthage jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead to start the third set. Leading 14-12, the Red Men make a three-point run to extend their lead to 17-12. Although the Muskies put forth a valiant effort, Carthage held onto the lead and took the set 25-20. The 3-0 sweep of the Muskies earns the Red Men their twenty-first win in a row.

AS a team, the Red men recorded 42 kills, two service aces, sixteen blocks, 40 assists, 34 digs, and a hitting percentage of .219.
Griffin Shields led the team in kills with 16, accompanied by
Will Craft with 12, and
J.P. Tulacka with six.
Matt Reinsel and Shields each completed one service ace. Tulacka collected nine blocks, followed by Shields with eight and Reinsel with five, respectively. Reinsel also connected on 35 assists in the match.
Marc Hansen made nine blocks, accompanied by
Scotty Adamczyk and Shields with six apiece.

The Red Men return home on Thursday, March 24
th to host MCVL opponent MSOE at 7 p.m. at Tarble Arena. MSOE and Carthage are currently tied for first in the MCVL with each team sporting a 10-0 conference record.
