INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA announced Monday that Carthage College would be staying home to host an NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship Regional, with the Red Men set to face Benedictine University in their first round matchup.
Carthage will face Benedictine at 5:00 p.m. in Saturday's first match of the evening followed by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater against Hanover College, which will start at approximately 7:30 p.m.
This will mark the first time that a Carthage Soccer program has played host to an NCAA Division III Championship match in school history.
The Eagles of Benedictine University completed their season with an overall record of 14-4-2 and 8-1-1in the NACC. The Eagles topped Wisconsin Lutheran College in the NACC Tournament Championship, 3-0, to earn the conference's automatic bid. This will be the first meeting between the Red Men and the Eagles this season who last met on September 4th, 2013. Carthage beat the Eagles 3-1 in Kenosha, Wis.
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks (13-4-3) will face off against the Panthers of Hanover College (16-4-0, 7-2-0) in a first round matchup also at Art Keller Field. The Panthers earned the HCAC's automatic bid with a 1-0 win over Rose-Hulman while the Warhawks earned an at large bid as the WIAC no longer sponsors men's soccer. The Red Men previously fell to Hanover on September 10th in a 4-1 decision and beat the Warhawks on September 22nd, 2-1.
Tickets will be $6 for general admission, $3 for students & seniors, $2 for children ages 3-12, and children ages 2 are not required to pay admission.
