CHICAGO – The Carthage College women's soccer team fell Tuesday, September 29
th at the Stagg Field Complex on the campus of the University of Chicago, 5-0.
Chicago got off to a quick start with three first half goals, the first coming in just the sixth minute of play.
The Maroons outshot the Lady Reds, 10-5, in the first half a 5-2 on target.
Carthage turned up the heat early in the second half and looked to have a goal in the 46
th minute but the Chicago defense was able to get to the ball and clear it off the goal line spoiling the Lady Reds attack.
Chicago would capitalize on the missed chance moments later, extending the lead to 4-0 over Carthage with a goal in the 47
th minute.
The Maroons would closeout the scoring in the 84
th minute with their fifth goal of the match.
Overall, Chiago outshot Carthage 20-10, 10-4 on target.
Rachel Post led the Lady Reds statistically with three shots and two on target, along with
Maggie Washelesky's three shots and one on target.
Kate Perry recorded five saves in 90 minutes of play.
The Lady Reds begin their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season next, as Carthage hosts North Central College over the 2015 Homecoming weekend at Art Keller Field, Saturday, October 2
nd at 5:00 p.m.
