The Carthage College men's volleyball team (10-4, 8-0 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League), ranked No. 7 in the March 3 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, swept conference-opponent and No. 14 Dominican University (Ill., 7-6, 6-2 MCVL), 3-0, on Wednesday, March 4 at the Igini Sports Forum in River Forest, Ill. The Red Men's winning set scores over the Stars were 25-20, 25-22 and 25-17. Carthage remains in sole possession of first place in the league.
Griffin Shields (So., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) led the Red Men with 13 kills, a. 458 attack percentage and two block assists.
Scotty Adamczyk (Jr., Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) had 11 kills and hit .500 with nine digs, while
Jon Storm (Sr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) had nine kills with a .333 attack percentage. Setter
Ricky Figueroa (Fr., Newbury Park, Calif./Oaks Christian) collected 36 assists. Jeremy Royko led the Stars with eight kills.
The Red Men play host to Rivier University (currently 7-7) on Saturday, March 7 in a 4 p.m. match at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
