The Carthage College softball team (4-8, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) snapped a five game-losing streak on Thursday, March 27 and closed out its 12-game spring trip to the National Training Center Springs Games with an 11-10 decision over Thomas College (0-8) in Clermont, Fla. Earlier in the day, Carthage lost to Wisconsin-Oshkosh (8-6) by a 13-5 margin.
In the UW-Oshkosh game, the Titans took a 10-5 lead after four innings and scored three more in the sixth to end the game on an eight-run rule. Hayden Krueger led Wisconsin-Oshkosh with three hits, with relief pitcher Sara Brunlieb (4-1) shutting out the Lady Reds on one hit over the final four and one-third innings.

The Lady Reds opened the trip on Saturday, March 21 with a 5-3 loss to Ripon College and 3-0 loss to No. 20 William Paterson University. On Sunday, March 22, Carthage defeated the Rochester Institute of Technology (0-3), 8-0, before edging Carleton College (5-5), 1-0. Carthage split a pair of games on Monday, March 23, losing to Union College (2-3), 4-3, before defeating Colby College (2-1) by a 7-2 margin. On Tuesday, March 24 the Lady Reds fell to No. 5 Wisconsin-Whitewater (5-2), 8-0, before being edged by D'Youville College (6-4) by a 5-4 margin. The Lady Reds lost two games on Wednesday, March 25, falling to Buena Vista University (8-8), 2-1, before losing to Wellesley College (4-4), 8-6.
Carthage travels to River Forest, Ill., on Tuesday, March 31 for a 3 p.m. doubleheader against Concordia University (Ill.).
