ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Carthage College women's volleyball team (20-4, 2-1 CCIW), ranked No. 11 in the Oct., 13
th AVCA Top 25 Poll, traveled to Rock Island, Ill. to take on Augustana College (Ill.) (8-12, 1-4 CCIW) in a 7 p.m. CCIW match.
The Vikings showed their competitiveness, but it was not enough to stop the Lady Reds from taking the 3-1 win on the road (25-15, 25-21, 20-25, 25-16).
As a team, the Lady Reds recorded 45 kills, seven aces, nine blocks, 34 assists, 64 digs and hit .152 in the four set match. In comparison, Augustana made 38 kills, six aces, eight blocks, 34 assists, 65 digs and hit .112.
Stephanie Korbakes led the way for the Lady Reds with 14 kills.
Stefanie Romanowski finished the match with five blocks and
Karen Chin completed 32 assists.
Luci Krenzke finished the game with 29 digs, along with Chin's 14 and
Emily Heuermann's 11.
The Lady Reds will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. on October 16
th and 17
th to participate in the 2015 Calvin "Midwest Invitational" at the Van Noord Arena. Carthage will take on Hope College at Noon (EST) on Friday, Oct. 16
th, followed by a 5 p.m. (EST) match against Alma College. On Saturday, Carthage will face Wittenberg University in a Noon (EST) matchup and will take on Bluffton University at 4 p.m. (EST).
