NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Carthage College women's volleyball team (19-4, 1-1 CCIW), ranked No. 11 in the Oct. 6th AVCA Poll, had a strong showing on day two of the "2015 Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament" at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. on Oct. 10th.
The Lady Reds started their day with a 9 a.m. match against Saint Mary's University (Minn.) (16-7). The Lady Reds took the first set 25-20 in what was a very competitive set. Carthage showed their strength in the second set with a score of 25-13. Saint Mary's University showed some tenacity in the third set, but the Lady Reds still dominated the game. Carthage won the third set 25-21, sweeping Saint Mary's University 3-0.
As a team, the Lady Reds recorded 40 kills, eight service aces, 57 digs and hit .357.
Bria Hailey led the way for the Lady Reds with a total of 11 kills, along with
Jaime Dickinson and
Stephanie Korbakes who each earned 8.
Karen Chin completed 32 assists in the match.
Later that day, the Lady Reds took on the Kohawks of Coe College (15-10) in a 1 p.m. match. The Kohawks were a strong team, but they weren't strong enough to prevail over the Lady Reds. Carthage swept the Kohawks 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-18).
Combined, the Lady Reds made 43 kills, seven service aces, 57 digs and hit .273 in the three-set match against Coe.
Emily Heuermann and
Stephanie Korbakes each recorded 11 kills in the match, along with
Karen Chin's 30 assists.

Luci Krenzke each made 11 digs, along with
Emily Heuermann that completed 10 digs, respectively.
Carthage will travel to Rock Island, Ill. on Tuesday, Oct. 13th to take on CCIW opponent Augustana College (Ill.) in a 7 p.m. match.
