BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Carthage College women's soccer team fell Saturday to the ninth ranked Illinois Wesleyan Titans, 3-0, at IWU's Neis Soccer Field.

The loss drops the Lady Reds to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the #9 Titans improved to 12-1-0 and 2-0 in the CCIW.

Illinois Wesleyan scored goals in the 12th and 25th minute to take a 2-0 lead after the first half and then added a third goal in the 52nd minute to round out the scoring.

Carthage was unable to maintain the same first half pressure which created seven shots in the half to IWU's ten. However, in the second half IWU limited Carthage to only a single shot versus their nine.

Maggie Washelesky created the most opportunities for the Lady Reds with two of Carthage's six total shots on target.Â

Corinne Brennan,
Lauren Szumski and
Danielle Noverini each registered one shot on goal.

The Lady Reds will continue play Wednesday, October 14th in Wheaton, Illinois when Carthage faces Wheaton College at 4:30 p.m. at Wheaton's Joe Bean Stadium.
