Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 The Carthage College women's volleyball team (4-0, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) closed out play at the Elmhurst College Tournament I on Saturday, Aug. 30 with a pair of wins at R.A. Faganel Hall in Elmhurst, Ill.  Carthage knocked off No. 17 the University of Chicago (0-3), 3-1, before sweeping Dominican University (Ill.). 3-0.  The Lady Reds' winning set scores over the Maroons were 24-26, 25-23, 25-17 and 25-17, and their winning scores over the Stars were 25-17, 25-21 and 25-13.
 
On Friday, Aug. 29, Carthage outlasted Luther College (0-1), 3-2, in before sweeping Lake Forest College (0-1), 3-0.  The Lady Reds' winning scores over the Norse were 25-21, 17-25, 25-20, 18-25 and 15-11, while their scores over the Foresters were 25-8, 25-9 and 25-21.
 
In Saturday's win over Chicago, Emily Heuermann (Jr. Washington, Ill.) led the way with 14 kills and two block assists, while Bri Hailey (Jr., Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumburg) collected 10 kills with a .350 attack percentage, one block solo and three block assists.  Setter Karen Chin (Jr., Mundelein, Ill.) averaged 9.4 assists per set.  Heuermann had 10 kills against Dominican (Ill.) and hit .273, while Chin averaged 9.3 assists per set.
 
In the Luther contest, Bri Hailey (Jr., Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumburg) led the way with 12 kills, a .375 attack percentage and four block assists.  Emily Heuermann (Jr. Washington, Ill.) and Mallory Parson (Fr., Lake Zurich, Ill.) each had 11 kills.  Rachel Fields (Sr., Chicago, Ill./Oak Park-Fenwick) collected 10 kills in the sweep over Lake Forest.

Carthage travels to Dubuque, Iowa, on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 5-6 for the Loras College Invitational at the Athletic Wellness Center.  Carthage plays Cornell College on Friday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. and Monmouth College at 5 p.m.  On Saturday, Sept. 6, the Lady Reds face Wartburg College at 9 a.m. and Loras at 1 p.m.
