The Carthage College women's swimming team (1-0) defeated Lake Forest College, 155-115, on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Carthage's Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis.
 
Carthage's Ashley Gladis (Sr., Elgin, Ill.) won three events, taking first place in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.94), the 200 breaststroke (2:33.46) and the 200 individual medley (2:14.91).  Lauren Pentzien (Fr., Charleston, Ill.) won both the 50 freestyle (25.80) and the 100 freestyle (56.52), and Kate Hugo (Fr., Neenah, Wis.) took first place in both the 100 backstroke (1:01.63) and the 200 backstroke (2:10.89).  Mary Devereux (Jr., Chicago, Ill./Oak Park-Fenwick) won the 200 freestyle (2:00.54). The Lady Reds also picked up a win from their 200 medley relay team of Hugo, Gladis, Devereux and Pentzien with a time of 1:53.79.
 
Carthage travels to Bloomington, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 8 to face both Illinois Wesleyan University and the Illinois Institute of Technology in a 1 p.m. triangular meet at Illinois Wesleyan's Fort Natatorium.
