Box Score 3 The Carthage College women's volleyball team (19-2, 1-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin), ranked 23rd in the Sept. 30 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, saw its 14-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, Oct 4 with a 3-2 loss to No. 15 Wisconsin-Stevens Point (17-4) at the Wisconsin-Platteville Tournament at the Williams Fieldhouse in Platteville, Wis. The Pointers' winning set scores over the Lady Reds were 19-25, 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 15-12. The 14-match win streak tied a 2011 mark as the third-best in program history. Carthage's 2004 team won a school-record 20-straight matches.
Following the loss to UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, the Lady Reds swept Wisconsin-Platteville (7-14), 3-0, with winning scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-19. Carthage opened tournament play on Friday night, Oct. 4 by sweeping Wisconsin-River Falls (9-8), 3-0. The Lady Reds' winning set scores over the Falcons were 25-17, 25-15 and 25-17.
Emily Heuermann (Jr. Washington, Ill.) had 12 kills with a .550 attack percentage (12-1-20) and two block solos against Wisconsin-River Falls.
Rachel Fields (Sr., Chicago, Ill./Oak Park-Fenwick) had 10 kills and hit. 273 with four block assists. Setter
Karen Chin (Jr., Mundelein, Ill.) averaged 9.33 assists per set.
Fields had 14 kills and hit .231 against Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Heuermann had 13 kills and
Bria Hailey (Jr., Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumburg) 12 kills with one block solo and two block assists.
Hanna Cahoon (Sr., Watertown, Wis.) who was named to the all-tournament team, collected 26 digs against the Pointers with Chin averaging 9.20 assists per set. Heuermann had 10 kills and hit .350 against Wisconsin-Platteville, while Mallory Parson (Fr., Lake Zurich, Ill.) had nine kills, and Chin averaged 12.33 assists per set.
Carthage plays host to CCIW-opponent Millikin University (18-3, 1-0 CCIW) on Tuesday, Oct. 7 in a 7 p.m. match at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
