Lady Reds Play Host to Wisconsin-La Crosse on Tuesday

Box Score The Carthage College women's soccer team (4-7-0, 0-1-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) opened its CCIW-schedule on Saturday afternoon, Oct.4 with a 2-1 loss in overtime to North Central College (4-2-2, 1-0-0 CCIW) at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium in Naperville, Ill.
 
Following a scoreless first period, North Central took a 1-0 lead early in the second half when Emily Gaither scored at 47:00.  The Lady Reds tied the game at 54:32 on a goal by Jessica Socha (Sr., Crestwood, Ill./Chicago-Marist), assisted by Lauren Szumski.  The Cardinals' Nicholette Fulk had a shot with one second remaining in regulation that was saved by Carthage goalkeeper Abby Alm.  Gaither then scored the game-winning goal at 97:38 in overtime, assisted by Caitlin Orawiec.  Carthage had an 18-6 advantage in shots and a 6-1 margin in corner kicks,  Lady Reds goalkeeper Abby Alm (Jr., North Branch, Minn.) collected three saves. 
 
The Lady Reds play host to Wisconsin-La Crosse (3-2-4) on Tuesday, Oct. 7 in a 6 p.m. contest at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
