The Carthage College women's swimming team (2-2 dual meet record), ranked 22nd in the Dec. 10 "CollegeSwimming.com" poll, lost to Lewis University, 151-111, on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis. The Lewis meet was originally scheduled for the Lewis Swimming Pool, but that facility suffered a burst heating pipe in early-January.
Carthage's
Natalia Bialecka (Sr., Des Plaines, Ill./Park Ridge-Maine East) placed first in the 50 freestyle (24.68) and second in the 100 freestyle (54.77), and
Susan Peinsipp (Sr., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) won the 200 butterfly (2:16.55) and took second in the 100 butterfly (1:01.56).
Ashley Gladis (Jr., Batavia, Ill.) won the 100 butterfly (1:00.81).
Ember McCoy (Sr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) was second in the 200 freestyle (2:01.19), the 500 freestyle (5:20.05) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:59.23), while
Sarah Wodnik (Sr., Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) was second in the 200 individual medley (2:18.51). The Lady Reds also picked up a win from their 200 medley relay team (1:52.49).
Carthage returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 by playing host to Wheaton College (Ill.) in an 11 a.m. dual meet at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis.
