Box Score The Carthage College women's soccer team (5-1-0, 0-0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) saw its five-game, season-opening win streak come to an end on Tuesday, Sept. 24 with a 4-0 loss to the University of Chicago (6-2) at Stagg Field in Chicago. The Maroons were ranked eighth and the Lady Reds ninth in the Sept. 24 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Central Region poll.
Tuesday's game was a makeup of a contest that was postponed on Wednesday, Sept. 18 due to lighting. In the first attempt, Carthage was leading, 2-1, at 52:00 when the game was halted.
In the game that counted, Chicago took a 1-0 first-period lead on a goal by Sarah Kwan, and assisted by Ryann Hanley, at 35:44. Kwan scored again at 52:30 second period, her sixth goal of the year and assisted by Micaela Harms to give the Maroons a 2-0 advantage. Julia Ozello scored at 61:23, assisted by Natalia Jovanovic, to make it a 3-0 game. The Maroons closed out the scoring at 4-0 with a late goal by Kelsey Peterson, assisted by Mary Bittner, at 89:54. Chicago out-shot Carthage by an 18-8 margin.
On Thursday, Sept. 26, the Lady Reds play host to the Milwaukee School of Engineering (3-4-0) in a 4:30 p.m. game at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
