Box Score The Carthage College women's soccer team (5-0-0, 0-0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) ran its season-opening win streak to five games on Sunday, Sept. 15 with a 3-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College (2-5-0) on the final day of Carthage's "Battle on the Border" at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis. Carthage's 2008 team tied a school-record nine-game win streak to open the season.

The Lady Reds allowed their first opponent goal of the year on Saturday, Sept. 14 in a 4-1 win over Lake Forest College to open tournament play. Carthage has out-scored its five foes this year by a 19-1 margin.

In the win over Wisconsin Lutheran, Carthage opened up an early, 1-0 lead, as Corinne Brennan (Fr., New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) scored her seventh goal in five games at 1:47. The Lady Reds upped their lead to 2-0 at 60:14 with a goal by Jessica Socha (Jr., Crestwood, Ill./Chicago-Marist), assisted by Rachel Post. Post scored, unassisted, at 86:07, her fourth goal of the year, to close out the scoring.

In neutral-site tournament matches, the College of Mount St. Joseph (1-6-1) defeated Wisconsin Lutheran, 3-1, on Friday, Sept. 13, with Lake Forest College defeating Mount St. Joseph, 2-1, on Sunday, Sept. 15.

Carthage travels to Chicago on Wednesday, Sept. 18 to play the University of Chicago (4-2) in a 4 p.m. game at the Stagg Field Complex. The Maroons were ranked eighth and the Lady Reds ninth in the Sept. 17 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Central Region poll.
