The Carthage College women's soccer team (1-0, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) opened its 2013 season on Friday, Aug. 30 with a 4-0 win over Centenary College (0-1) at the Centenary "Cyclone Kickoff Classic" at Warren Hills High School in Washington, N.J.

Carthage took a 3-0 lead in the first period. Rachel Post (So., New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) scored at 4:16, Corinne Brennan (Fr., New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) at 12:46 and Jessica Socha (Jr., Crestwood, Ill./Chicago-Marist) at 27:18. The Lady Reds made it 4-0 at 56:31 second period on a goal by Monica Rosenberger (Sr., Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South), assisted by Post. "I was very pleased with our discipline within our system and our ability to capitalize on our chances," said Carthage coach Sara Meyer.

The Lady Reds conclude tournament play on Saturday, Aug. 31 with a 2 p.m., EDT contest against Elizabethtown College (0-1).
