The Carthage College women's swimming team (2-1 dual meet record), ranked 23rd in the Nov. 6 "CollegeSwimming.com" NCAA Division III poll, defeated Illinois Wesleyan University, 155-94, on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis.
Carthage's
Sarah Wodnik (Sr., Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) led the Lady Reds with three wins, taking first place in the 100 backstroke (1:03.66), the 200 backstroke (2:16.32) and the 200 individual medley (2:17.98).
Ashley Gladis (Jr., Batavia, Ill.) won both the 100 breastroke (1:11.23) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.69).
Ember McCoy (Sr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) won both the 200 freestyle (1:59.57) and the 1,000 freestyle (11:05.54) and then finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:26.63).
Kelly Loftus (Sr., Winfield, Ill./West Chicago) won the 200 butterfly (2:18.43) and
Liz Olson (So., Forest City, Iowa) took first place in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.64) and took second in the 100 breastroke (1:13.23).
Natalia Bialecka (Sr., Des Plaines, Ill./Park Ridge-Maine East) finished second in both the 50 freestyle (25.03) and the 100 freestyle (55.41).
Lisa Perdue (Jr., Whittier, Calif.) took third in both the 100 freestyle (27.80 and the 200 freestyle (2:03.54).
Carthage also collected second-place finishes from
Susan Peinsipp (Sr., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) in the 200 butterfly (2:18.70),
Taylor Hutton (Jr., Naperville North, Ill./North) in the 1,000 freestyle (11:23.20) and
Kailyn Gebner (So., Naperville, Ill./Central) in the 100 backstroke (1:06.15).
Carthage travels to St. Peter, Minn., on Saturday, Nov. 23 for the Gustavus Adolphus College Invitational at the Lund Center Natatorium, beginning at 10 a.m.
