Box Score The Carthage College women's soccer team (13-4-1, 5-2-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) advanced to the title game of the CCIW Women's Soccer Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 6 with a 4-2 shootout win over No. 20 Illinois Wesleyan University (12-2-5, 5-1-1 CCIW) at the Neis Soccer Field in Bloomington, Ill. The two teams played to a 1-1 tie in double-overtime.
In the other semifinal contest on Wednesday, Nov. 6, CCIW-champion and No. 4 Wheaton College (Ill., 16-1-2, 6-1-0) got by Augustana College (Ill., 12-4-4, 4-2-1 CCIW), 1-0, at Joe Bean Stadium in Wheaton, Ill. Wheaton will play host to Carthage in the Saturday, Nov. 9 championship game at 7:30 p.m., with that winner earning the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. This will be Carthage first appearance in the tournament final since 2007.
In the semifinal contest, Carthage took a 1-0 lead at 16:21 first period on a goal by
Erin Ganzke (Fr., New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower). Illinois Wesleyan tied game, 1-1, at 50:24 second period on a goal by Tillie Bill, her eighth of the year.
