Box Score The Carthage College men's soccer team (13-6-1, 4-2-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked third in the Nov. 6 NCAA Division III Central Region poll, shut out Elmhurst College (11-4-3, 4-1-2 CCIW), 2-0, on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in a CCIW Men's Soccer Tournament semifinal game at Langhorst Field in Elmhurst, Ill. The Bluejays were ranked fourth in the regional poll.

In the other semifinal contest on Tuesday, Nov. 5, top-seeded, CCIW-champion and No. 8 Wheaton College (Ill., 15-3-2, 6-0-1 CCIW)) advanced to the title game with a 5-3 shootout decision over fourth-seeded and No. 25 North Park University (11-5-3, 4-2-1) at Joe Bean Stadium in Wheaton, Ill., after the two team played to a 1-1 tie in double-overtime. Wheaton will play host to Carthage in the Saturday, Nov. 9 championship game at 5 p.m., with that winner earning the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship.

In the semifinal win over Elmhurst, Carthage broke a scoreless tie at 55:41 second period on a goal by Billy Hamilton (Sr., Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator), assisted by Ryan Crane. The Red Men made it a 2-0 contest at 71:04 when Michael Dombrowski (Jr., Johnsburg, Ill.) scored his 13th goal of the season, assisted by Drew Liogas. Carthage had a 19-6 advantage in shots over the Bluejays, including a 9-1 edge in shots-on-goal.

"It seems like every year we fly under the radar." said Carthage coach Steve Domin. "We just play one of the strongest schedules in the country, and it readies us for the stretch run every year. To beat a team twice is always difficult to do, especially ranked opponents like Elmhurst. Each year, the CCIW proves why it is so competitive. We have dealt with injuries since day one, but somebody steps up every night. Tonight, it was Seamus Kaminski in the back. We haven't played our best soccer yet, we think we can do so over the next couple weeks."
