Box Score The Carthage College men's soccer team (9-4-1, 1-1-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) evened its conference record on Wednesday, Oct. 9 with a 2-1 win, in overtime, over Augustana College (Ill, 5-5-1, 0-2-0) at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
Augustana jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 5:40 on a header goal by Michael Brazinski, assisted by Danny Campagna. The Red Men tied the game at 26:46 on a goal by
Ryan Crane (Jr., Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lincolnshire-Stevenson), his fourth of the year and assisted by
Billy Hamilton. That's the way it stayed through the second period.
At 96:10 n the overtime, Carthage had a corner kick that resulted in a wide shot attempt by
Erhan Caglayan at 96:48. Forty-one seconds later at 97:29, Crane scored his second goal of the game and his fifth of the year to give the Red Men the 2-1 victory. Carthage out-shot Augustana, 19-11, with Caglayan collecting six of those 19 shots.
The Red Men play host to conference-opponent North Central College (5-4-3, 0-2-0 CCIW) on Saturday, Oct. 12 in a 7:30 p.m. contest, also at Art Keller Field.
