Women's Soccer Loses at No. 23 Illinois Wesleyan, 3-0, on Oct. 26

Lady Reds Travel to UW-La Crosse on Wednesday

Box Score The Carthage College women's soccer team (11-4-0, 4-2-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked ninth in the Oct. 22 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Central Region poll, lost to CCIW-opponent and No. 23 Illinois Wesleyan University (11-2-4, 4-1-1 CCIW), 3-0, on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Neis Soccer Field in Bloomington, Ill.

With the loss, the Lady Reds and the Titans swapped places in the CCIW standings, with Carthage dropping to third place and Illinois Wesleyan taking over the second spot behind league-leading Wheaton College (Ill., 14-1-2, 5-1-0 CCIW).

Carthage has clinched a berth in the CCIW Women's Soccer Tournament for the first time since 2008. The tournament gets underway with a pair of semifinal games on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Neither the pairings nor the sites for the semifinals can be determined until the regular-season conference schedule ends this weekend.

Illinois Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead when Tillie Bill scored off a corner kick at 14:27, her seventh goal of the year and assisted by Brie Seibert. Sydney Fox scored at 40:44 from the top of the box to make it 2-0. Just over a minute later at 41:52, Jenna Baker scored from the left side, assisted by both Cassidy Tomkins and Alex Partipilo, to make it 3-0. Baker's goal closed out the scoring, as the Titans out-shot the Lady Reds, 19-10, including an 8-3 edge in shots on goal.

Carthage travels to La Crosse, Wis., on Wednesday, Oct. 30 to play non-conference opponent Wisconsin-La Crosse (5-9-1) in a 5 p.m. contest at the Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
