Box Score The Carthage College men's soccer team (12-5-1, 4-2-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked seventh in the Oct. 22 National Soccer Coaches Association Central Region poll, lost to CCIW-opponent Illinois Wesleyan University (9-7-2, 3-3-0 CCIW), 1-0, on Saturday night, Oct. 26 at the Neis Soccer Field in Bloomington, Ill.
Carthage concluded its conference schedule with the Illinois Wesleyan game, but the Red Men are assured of a berth in the CCIW Men's Soccer Tournament. Wheaton College (Ill., 14-3-1, 5-0-1) clinched at least a share of the conference title on Saturday with a 3-2 win over Millikin University. North Park University (10-4-2, 3-1-1 CCIW) and Elmhurst College (10-3-3, 3-1-2 CCIW) are currently in line for the other two tournament slots.
In the loss to Illinois Wesleyan, the Titans' Eric Gilbert scored the game's lone goal at 62:21 on a shot from the top of the box, assisted by Declan Geraghty. The shots were even at nine each, with Illinois Wesleyan having a 3-2 edge in shots on goal.
Carthage concludes its regular-season schedule on Friday, Nov. 1 by playing host to non-conference opponent Wisconsin-Superior (9-6-3) in a 5 p.m. game at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
