"Pumpkin Bash" at the Roy J. Carver Physical Education Center in Rock Island, Ill.

The Lady Reds opened tournament play on Friday, Oct. 25 with 3-1 wins over No. 32 Wartburg College (20-10) and Simpson College (15-8). The Lady Reds' winning set scores over the Knights were 22-25, 25-20, 25-20 and 25-15, and their winning scores over the Storm were 18-25, 25-17, 25-20 and 25-19.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, Carthage lost to No. 24 Coe College (31-3) and to Central College (12-19) by identical, 3-1 scores. The Kohawks' winning set scores over the Lady Reds were 25-23, 25-16, 23-25 and 25-13, while Central' winning scores were 25-18, 16-25, 25-22 and 25-20.

Bria Hailey (So., Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumburg) led Carthage in the Wartburg match with 14 kills and a .435 attack percentage, while Emily Heuermann (So., Washington, Ill.) had 10 kills. Stefanie Romanowski (Fr., Kenosha, Wis./Bradford) collected three block solos and two block assists, and setter Karen Chin (So., Mundelein, Ill.) averaged 9.0 assists per set. Against Simpson, Rachel Fields (Jr., Chicago, Ill./Oak Park-Fenwick) had 13 kills and four block assists, while Hailey had 11 kills and hit. 320 with three block solos and four block assists. Chin averaged 10.3 assists per set against Simpson.

Heuermann had 13 kills with a .303 attack percentage in the Coe match, and Chin averaged 8.50 assists per set. Hailey had 12 kills and hit .321 with three block assists against Central, while Heuremann had 12 kills and Chin averaged 9.0 assists per set.

Carthage returns to the Carver Center on Tuesday, Oct. 29 for CCIW-match with Augustana (Ill., 16-12, 3-2 CCIW), beginning at 7 p.m.
