Lady Reds Travel to No. 23 Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday

Box Score The Carthage College women's soccer team (11-3-0, 4-1-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked ninth in the Oct. 22 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Central Region poll, saw its five-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday, Oct. 22 with a 1-0 loss to non-conference opponent the University of Dubuque (12-4-0) at the Oyen Soccer Field in Dubuque, Iowa. The Spartans were ranked eighth in the Oct. 22 NSCAA North Region poll.

Dubuque broke a scoreless tie at 71:46 second period when Kelsey Graefen scored on a header goal off a free kick and assisted by both Lauren Waddell and Alexandra Watkins. Graefen's goal held up, with the Spartans holding a 22-14 edge in shots, including a 10-5 advantage in shots-on-goal. Carthage goalkeeper Abby Alm (So., North Branch, Minn.) collected nine saves.

The Lady Reds return to CCIW-action on Saturday, Oct. 26 with a 3 p.m. game versus No. 23 Illinois Wesleyan University (10-2-4, 3-1-1 CCIW) at the Neis Soccer Field in Bloomington, Ill.
