Women's Volleyball Goes 3-1 at the Sept. 28-29 St. Norbert Tournament

Lady Reds Play Host to Millikin University on Tuesday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 The Carthage College women's volleyball team (11-8, 1-2 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), tied for 21st place in the Sept. 25 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, went 3-1 at the Friday-Saturday, Sept. 28-29 St. Norbert College Tournament at the Schuldes Sports Center in De Pere, Wis. 

Carthage opened tournament play on Friday, Sept. 28 with a 3-1 loss to Wisconsin-Eau Claire (11-8) before sweeping Wisconsin-Superior (13-6) by a 3-0 margin.  The Blugolds' winning set scores over the Lady Reds were 22-25, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-17, and Carthage's winning scores over Wisconsin-Superior were 25-23, 25-20 and 25-23.  On Saturday, Sept. 29, the Lady Reds defeated Wisconsin-River Falls (13-5), 3-1, before sweeping Finlandia University (1-12) by a 3-0 margin.  Carthage's winning set scores over the Falcons were 25-22, 17-25, 25-17 and 25-18, and its winning scores over the Lions were 25-6, 25-11 and 25-11. 

Carthage's Bria Haliey (Fr., Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumburg) was named to the all-tournament team.  Hailey collected a team-high 11 kills with a .421 attack percentage in the loss to Wisconsin-Eau Claire, while Rachel Fields (So., Chicago, Ill./Oak Park-Fenwick) had 10 kills and hit .308.  Angelica Walinski (Jr., Skokie, Ill./Niles North) had 11 kills in the win over Wisconsin-Superior and 15 kills with a .324 average in the Wisconsin-River Falls contest.  Katie Stensland (Sr., Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) collected 13 kills and hit .455 against UW-River Falls.

The Lady Reds play host to CCIW-opponent Millikin University (17-5, 2-1 CCIW) on Tuesday, Oct. 2 in a 7 p.m. match at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
