Box Score 4 The Carthage College women's volleyball team (6-3, 1-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked 16th in the Sept. 11 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, went 2-2 at its own fall invitational on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 14-15 at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
On Friday, Sept. 14, Carthage swept St. Mary's College (Ind., 6-2), 3-0, before losing to No. 13 the University of Chicago (8-2) by a 3-1 margin. The Lady Reds' winning set scores over the Belles were 25-18, 25-16 and 25-18, and the Maroons winning scores over the Lady Reds were 25-17, 22-25, 25-17 and 25-13.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, Carthage was swept by Dominican University (Ill., 12-2), 3-0, before sweeping St. Norbert College (8-6) by a 3-0 margin. The Stars' winning set scores over the Lady Reds were 33-31, 25-11 and 28-26, and Carthage's winning scores over St. Norbert were 25-16, 27-25 and 25-20.
Carthage's Rachel Field (So., Chicago, Ill./Oak Park-Fenwick) collected a match-high nine kills with a .261 attack percentage against St. Mary's (Ind.).
Emily Heuermann (Fr., Washington, Ill.) had seven kills with a .462 average, and
Angelica Walinski (Jr., Skokie, Ill./Niles North) added six kills. In the Chicago contest, Morgan Clark led the Maroons with 17 kills and a .433 attack percentage, while Maren Loe had 13 kills.
Emily Heuermann led Carthage with 10 kills in the Chicago match.
Claire Dezelski led Dominican (Ill.) with 13 kills and a .289 attack percentage, while Jacy Lawrence had 12 kills with a .345 mark.
Angelica Walinski led Carthage with 11 kills. In the win over St. Norbert,
Emily Heuermann totaled 15 kills and hit .344, while
Bria Hailey (Fr., Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumburg) had 10 kills and hit .529 (10-1-17).
Carthage's
Genelle McFarland (Fr., Watertown, Wis.) was named to the all-tournament team along with Nikki DelZenero and Eirene Kim from Chicago, Claire Dezelski and Jacy Lawrence from Dominican (Ill.), Illinois Wesleyan University's Erin Wachtel and Danielle Remy from St. Norbert.
Carthage plays host to CCIW-opponent and No. 15 Elmhurst College (6-3, 1-0 CCIW) on Tuesday, Sept. 18 in a 7 p.m. match at Tarble Arena.
