The Carthage College men's soccer team (0-2-0, 0-0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) fell to Pomona-Pitzer College (1-1-0), 3-1, on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Merritt Field in Claremont, Calif. The Red Men opened their two-game trip to Southern California on Thursday, Sept. 1 with a 4-0 loss to the University of Redlands (1-0-0) at Farquhar Field in Redlands, Calif. 
 
In the Pomona-Pitzer contest, the Red Men and the Sagehens were tied at halftime, 1-1. Ian Maier scored for Pomona-Pitzer at 9:59, and Carthage's Michael Dombrowski (Fr., Johnsburg, Ill.) knotted things up with a goal at 32:30, assisted by Kevin Hilgart. The Sagehens scored two unanswered goals in the second half, one by Evan Munoz at 54:23 and the final tally by Gator Halpern.
 
Carthage flies east next weekend to play in the Rutgers-Newark “Raider Classic” in Newark, N.J. On Saturday, Sept. 10, the Red Men play Drew University (2-0) in an 11 a.m., EDT game at Alumni Field, followed by a Sunday, Sept. 11 contest against the host-Scarlet Raiders at Noon, EDT.
