The Carthage College men's soccer team (2-4-0, 0-0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) blanked Wartburg College (3-2), 2-0, on Friday, Sept. 16 at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis. The Knights entered the game ranked seventh in the Sept. 13 National Soccer Coaches Association of America North Region poll.

All the scoring came in the first period. The Red Men's Michael Dombrowski (Fr., Johnsburg, Ill.), assisted by Vladimir Schlageter, scored his third goal of the year at 39:45, and Schlageter added his own goal 44:44 as time was running out in the first half. Carthage out-shot Wartburg, 13-3.

“It was certainly nice to get a result against a top-ranked team in the North Region,” said Carthage coach Steve Domin. “We were a bit fortunate to be able to rest some people during out last match, and coupling that with Wartburg's travel, I believe all worked in our favor tonight. There is no relief in our schedule, so we still need to continue to find ways to close out games." Carthage entertains Concordia University (Wis.) on Monday, Sept. 19 in a 7 p.m. game at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
