The Carthage College men's soccer team (9-5-2, 2-1-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked sixth in the Oct. 11 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Central Region poll, defeated non-conference opponent St. Norbert College (1-11-1), 4-0, on Wednesday night, Oct. 19 at Donald J. Schneider Stadium in De Pere, Wis.

Carthage took a 2-0 lead in the first half behind a goal by Taylor Pignataro (Fr., Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs), unassisted at 15:31, and Rafal Zalewski (Sr., Schiller Park, Ill./Franklin Park-East Leyden) at 37:16, assisted by Pignataro.  The Red Men tacked on two second-period goals.  Michael Dombrowski (Fr., Johnsburg, Ill.) scored in his eighth season goal at 64:59, assisted by Greg Pignataro, and Billy Hamilton (So., Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator) completed the scoring with a goal at 70:40, assisted by Aleks Ursosevic.  Milan Tijanic (Jr., Glenview, Ill./Park Ridge-Maine East) worked the first 70 minutes in goal, with Steve Kvasnicka (Jr., Westchester, Ill./St. Joseph) playing the final 20 minutes.

“We won this game because of our depth more than anything else,” said Carthage coach Steve Domin.  “St. Norbert was one of the stronger teams in the region last year, and that's why they're on our schedule this year.  We play a very-competitive schedule, based on the previous season, and we were a little fortunate tonight that our opponent is in a rebuilding year.  Headed into this one, I was a touch concerned with the high winds, cold temperature and rain.  We have to find a way to ride the momentum with North Central coming up next.”

On Saturday, Oct. 22, the Red Men play host to CCIW-opponent North Central College (9-3-2, 1-1-2 CCIW) in a 2:30 p.m. clash at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
