The Carthage College women's soccer team (4-5-1, 0-1-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) opened its CCIW-schedule on Saturday, Oct. 1 with a 1-0 loss to Augustana College (Ill., 6-3-1, 1-0-0 CCIW) at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.  The Vikings were ranked ninth in the Sept. 27 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Central Region poll. 

Following a scoreless first period, Augustana (Ill.) broke the tie with a goal by Bridget Shirgley, her first goal of the year and assisted by Morgan Olsen, at 76:00 second period.  The Lady Reds out-shot the Vikings, 13-12.  Carthage travels to Chicago on Tuesday, Oct. 4 to play No. 20 the University of Chicago (5-3-1) in a 4 p.m. game at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field.
