The Carthage College men's soccer team (6-4-1, 1-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) defeated non-conference opponent Robert Morris University (Ill., 1-7), 4-1, on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at the Redmond Athletic Complex in Bensenville, Ill.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Rolando Cruz at 9:46. The Red Men scored all four of their goals in the second period. Aleks Urosevic (Jr., Skokie, Ill./Wilmette-Loyola Academy) scored the game-tying goal, assisted by Danny Diaz, at 56:38. Diaz (Sr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) scored the go-ahead goal, assisted by Greg Pignataro, at 58:51. Vladimir Schlageter (Jr., St. Charles, Ill./North) scored, assisted by Cesar Castanon, at 82:15, and Carthage's final goal was tipped in by Robert Morris goal keeper Jose Cornejo at 88:20.
On Saturday, Oct. 2, the Red Men travel to Rock Island, Ill., to take on CCIW-opponent Augustana College (Ill., 2-6-1, 0-0-0 CCIW) in a 3:30 p.m. contest at the Augustana Soccer Field.
