The Carthage College women's volleyball team (14-5, 2-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked 14th in the Sept. 21 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, went 4-0 to win the Friday-Saturday, Sept. 24-25 Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament II at the Kris Russell Volleyball Arena in Whitewater, Wis. The Lady Reds have won six-straight matches and 10 of their last 11 contests.
On Friday, Sept. 24, Carthage swept both No. 3 Emory University (10-2) and Iowa Wesleyan College (3-15) by 3-0 scores. The Lady Reds' winning set scores over the Emory Eagles were 25-19, 25-14 and 25-21, and their winning scores over the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers were 25-19, 25-21 and 25-18.
On Saturday, Sept. 25, Carthage outlasted the host and No. 5 Warhawks (13-3), 3-2, before sweeping No. 22 the University of Chicago (15-4), 3-0, for the second time this week. Carthage's winning scores over Wisconsin-Whitewater were 22-25, 25-19, 25-16, 21-25 and 15-12, while the Lady Reds' winning scores over the University of Chicago Maroons were 25-17, 25-20 and 25-22.
Carthage travels to Wheaton, Ill., on Friday, Oct. 1 to play CCIW-opponent Wheaton College (Ill.) in a 5 p.m. match at King Arena.
