The Carthage College women's volleyball team (9-5, 2-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked 14th in the Sept. 21 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, swept CCIW-opponent North Park University (3-9, 0-2 CCIW), 3-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis. Carthage's winning set scores were 25-11, 25-18 and 25-11. With the win, Carthage extended its CCIW record to 46-straight regular-season conference victories going back to the 2003 season.
Outside hitter Michelle Madeja (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) led Carthage with 10 kills and a. 500 attack percentage (10 kills, 2 errors, 16 attempts), while right-side player Rachel Swoboda (Sr., De Pere, Wis./Wrightstown) had eight kills and a .467 mark (8 kills, 1 error, 15 attempts). Setter Drewann Pancratz (Jr., Schaumburg, Ill.), this weeks' CCIW “Defensive Player/Setter of the Week,” averaged 9.67 assists per set. Mallory Bieritz, this week's CCIW “Offensive Player of the Week,” led the Vikings with 10 kills and .250 attack percentage.
The Lady Reds play back-to-back home matches this week and entertain non-conference opponent and No. 22 the University of Chicago (13-2) on Wednesday night, Sept. 22, also at 7 p.m. at Tarble Arena.
