Women's Volleyball Goes 3-1 to Finish Second at Sept. 17-18 DePauw "Tiger Invitational"

No. 13 Lady Reds Play Host to North Park on Tuesday

The Carthage College women's volleyball team (8-5, 1-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked 13th in the Sept. 14 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, went 3-1 to finish second at the Friday-Saturday, Sept. 17-18 DePauw University “Tiger Invitational” at Neal Fieldhouse in Greencastle, Ind. 

Carthage opened tournament play on Friday, Sept. 17 with a pair of 3-0 wins over Marietta College (5-6) and Susquehanna University (6-5). The Lady Reds' winning set scores over the Pioneers were 25-13, 25-18 and 25-8, and their winning scores over the Crusaders were 25-15, 25-22 and 25-18.  

On Saturday, Sept. 18, the Lady Reds defeated the host-Tigers (7-7), 3-2, before falling to No. 1 Washington University (Mo., 14-0), 3-0, in the title match. Carthage's winning scores over DePauw were 17-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-9 and 15-10, while Washington's winning scores were 25-15, 25-21, 25-17. Carthage setter Drewann Pancratz (Jr., Schaumburg, Ill.) and outside hitter Lauren Dembkowski (Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) were named to the all-tournament team.
