Women's Soccer Blanked by No. 24 Loras, 3-0, on Sept. 12

Lady Reds Travel to Carroll University on Wednesday

The Carthage College women's soccer team (3-1-1, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked seventh in the Sept. 14 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Central Region poll, lost its first game of the season on Sunday, Sept. 12 with a 3-0 decision to No. 24 Loras College (5-0) at the Loras/Wisconsin-Platteville Tournament at Loras' Rock Bowl in Dubuque, Iowa. Carthage opened tournament play on Saturday, Sept.1 with a 3-1 win over Wisconsin-Platteville (4-2). 

In Sunday's loss to the Duhawks, Loras opened a 1-0 lead in the first half when Tonya Lohmeyer scored at 8:12, assisted by both Jessica Kern and Jayne Eslinger. In the second period, Jessica Kern's third goal of the year, assisted by both Kate Young and Madeline Tennant, at 46:03 put Loras up, 2-0. The Duhawks tacked on a final score at 66:23 on an unassisted goal by Natalie Schlader.  Carthage travels to Waukesha, Wis., on Wednesday, Sept. 15 to play Carroll University (2-2) in a 7 p.m. game at Schneider Stadium.
