The Carthage College women's track and field team (23-10 outdoor record) finished fifth at the Saturday, April 17 Wheaton College (Ill.) “Twilight Invitational” at McCully Field, in Wheaton, Ill. The University of Chicago won the seven-team event with 201.20 points, followed by Illinois Wesleyan University second at184, North Central College third at 163.20, the host-Thunder fourth at 84, Carthage fifth at 58.20, Washington University (Mo.) sixth at 53.20 and Central College seventh with 34.20 points.
Carthage's Ashura Jenkins (Jr., Aurora, Ill./Christian) finished third in the 100-meter dash (12.48) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (25.41). Mindy Harrington (Jr., Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond-Burton) took third place in the shot put (42-11) and fourth in the discus (124-3 ¾). Carthage travels to Whitewater, Wis., on Saturday, April 24 for the Wisconsin-Whitewater “Jeff Miller Alternative Meet” at UW-Whitewater's Foster Track, beginning at 10 a.m..
