The Carthage College women's track and field team (64-14) finished third at the Friday-Saturday, Feb. 26-27 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Track and Field Championship at North Central College's Al B. Carious Track in Naperville, Ill. 

Illinois Wesleyan University won its third CCIW title and third in a row with 252 points, followed by North Central (Ill.) second at 198.50, Carthage third at 87, Millikin University fourth at 54, Augustana College (Ill.) fifth at 35, Elmhurst College sixth at 14, North Park University seventh at 11 and Wheaton College (Ill.) eighth with 10.50 points. 

Carthage's Mindy Harrington (Jr., Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond-Burton), the "field athlete of the meet," won the weight throw (CCIW and Carthage-record 59-4 ¾), while finishing third in the shot put (39-11 ¼). Sarah Thompson (So., Byron, Ill.) finished first in the pentathlon (CCIW and Carthage-record 3,206 points). Ahvia Greene (Jr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) was second in the weight throw (55-11 ¾). Christine Nelson (So., Rock City, Ill./Dakota) was third in the pentathlon (2,999 points), as was Ashura Jenkins (Jr., Aurora, Ill./Christian) was third in the 55-meter dash (7.43).
