The Carthage College women's track and field team (59-12) finished second at the Saturday, Feb. 20 University of Chicago “Margaret Bradley Invitational” at the Henry Crown Field House in Chicago. The host-Maroons won the nine-team event with 276 points, followed by Carthage second at 58, the Northwestern University Track Club third at 44, St. Xavier University fourth at 43, Wisconsin-Parkside fifth at 22, the Illinois Institute of Technology sixth at 12, Aurora University seventh with seven points, Elmhurst College eighth with two points and Oakton Community College ninth with one point.
Carthage's Mindy Harrington (Jr., Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond-Burton) finished second in the weight throw (NCAA-automatic 56-11 ½) and fourth in the shot put (40-0 ¾). Ashura Jenkins (Jr., Aurora, Ill./Christian) was third in both the 55-meter dash (7.49) and the 200-meter dash (27.05), while Rachelle Ramos (So., Franklin Square, N.Y./Carey) finished third in the 55-meter high hurdles (9.72). The Lady Reds travel to Naperville, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 26-27 for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Track and Field Championship at North Central's new Al B. Carious Track.
