The Carthage College women's soccer team (7-9-3, 0-6-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) closed out its season on Sunday, Oct. 31 with a 2-1 loss to CCIW-opponent and No. 3 Illinois Wesleyan University (16-1-1, 5-1-1 CCIW) at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.

The Titans took a 1-0 lead in the first half behind an unassisted goal by Carlie Hoekstra at 15:44. Tillie Bill's 13th goal of the season, also unassisted, at 68:00 second period put Illinois Wesleyan up by a 2-0 margin. The Lady Reds got on the scoreboard at 83:00 on a goal by Taylor Capek (Fr., Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek), assisted by Katy Rosenbrook.

“The Illinois Wesleyan game was an exciting battle,” said Carthage coach Susie Foster. “Our girls played to the last whistle and almost tied the game in the final seconds. I was very proud of their play, their poise and their fight. We played the No. 3 team in the country almost even, and it showed that there are great things to come for this very young team. This group will do some special things in the future, and we're excited to build on today's performance through the off-season.”
