Women's Swimming Defeats Hope, 141-119, on Oct. 30

The Carthage College women's swimming team (1-0 dual-meet record) opened its 2010-11 season on Saturday, Oct. 30 with a 141-119 win over Hope College at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis.

Kayla Orendorf (Fr., Bloomington, Ill./Normal-West Community) won both the 100 backstroke (1:01.88) and the 100 freestyle (54.45). Michelle Pelka (Sr., Elgin, Ill./Elgin Academy) won the 200 individual medley (2:16.48), while finishing second in both the 100 butterfly (1:00.50) and the 200 butterfly (2:13.97). Natalia Bialecka (Fr., Des Plaines, Ill./Park Ridge-Maine East) won the 50 freestyle (25.21).

Ember McCoy (Fr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:59.57), the 500 freestyle (5:23.23) and the 1,000 freestyle (11:04.66). Amy Mueller (Sr., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.09), as was Jensena Paul (Jr., Portage, Wis.) in the 200 backstroke (2:18.02), Margaret Knowles (So., Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.83), Susan Peinsipp (Fr., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) in the 200 individual medley (2;20.77) and Emily Voss (So., Downers Grove, Ill./South) in the 50 freestyle (26.26). Carthage plays host to Lake Forest College on Friday, Nov. 5 in a 6 p.m. dual meet at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis.
