The Carthage College women's soccer team (7-8-3, 0-5-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to CCIW-opponent North Park University (5-12-1, 2-4-0 CCIW), 2-1 in overtime, on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the Holmgren Athletic Complex in Chicago.
The Vikings took a 1-0 halftime lead behind a goal by Sarah Hansen, assisted by Stephanie Fisher, at 14:05. The Lady Reds tied the game, 1-1, on an unassisted goal by Taylor Capek (Fr., Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) at 72:35. North Park's Kelsey Taylor scored the game-winning goal, assisted by Hansen, at 94:24 in overtime.
“I was really proud of our team tonight,” said Carthage coach Susie Foster, “and they deserved to win. We did the things we talked about, both technically and tactically, and they played with heart and a desire to win. It was a frustrating way to lose, but it is easy to see this team developing and building towards great things.”
On Sunday, Oct. 31, the Lady Reds close out their season by playing host to conference-opponent and No. 3 Illinois Wesleyan University (15-1-1, 4-1-1 CCIW) in a 2 p.m. contest at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
