The Carthage College women's soccer team (7-7-3, 0-4-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) played CCIW-opponent North Central College (6-8-1, 0-4-1 CCIW) to a 1-1 tie in double-overtime on Sunday, Oct. 24 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium in Naperville, Ill.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead at 10:47 first period when Emma Bader drilled a 40-yard attempt.  The Lady Reds tied the contest at 62:30 second period on a goal by Alyssa Baker (Fr., Lake Villa, Ill./Lake Community).  That ended the scoring, as the two teams completed regulation and a pair of 10-minute overtime periods.

“I was extremely proud of our girls and the way they battled,” said Carthage coach Susie Foster. “It was the best soccer we've played all year. Despite feeling disappointed with a tie, since we outshot them 26-6, I think we proved to ourselves what this young group is capable of if they continue to play this way. We gained some valuable experience, and we are eager to use it in our game with North Park on Wednesday.”

Carthage travels to Chicago on Wednesday, Oct. 27 to play CCIW-opponent North Park University (4-12-1, 1-4-0 CCIW) in a 5 p.m. game at the Holmgren Athletic Complex.
