The Carthage College women's volleyball team (18-6, 5-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked seventh in the Oct. 12 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, defeated CCIW-opponent Illinois Wesleyan University (9-13, 0-5 CCIW), 3-1, on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill.
The Lady Reds' winning set scores over the Titans were 30-28, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-18. Carthage has won nine-straight matches and 13 of its last 14 contests. With the win, the Lady Reds also extended their CCIW record to 49-straight regular-season conference victories.
Outside hitter Michelle Madeja (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) collected a team-high 20 kills and hit. 216. Outside hitter Lauren Dembkowski (Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) had 16 kills with a .273 attack percentage, while middle blocker Jordan Burkholder (Jr., Rockford, Ill./Christian Life) had seven block assists. Setter Emily Stein (Sr., Madison, Wis./East) averaged 11.75 assists per set.
Carthage plays host to the CCIW-opponent and No. 24 Millikin University in a key conference clash on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis., beginning at 7 p.m.
