The Carthage College women's volleyball team (15-5, 3-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked eighth in the Sept. 28 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, defeated CCIW-opponent Wheaton College (Ill., 11-8, 1-2 CCIW), 3-1, on Friday, Oct. 1 at King Arena in Wheaton, Ill. The Lady Reds' winning set scores over the Thunder were 24-26, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18.
Carthage has won seven-straight matches and 11 of its last 12 contests. With the win, the Lady Reds also extended their CCIW record to 47-straight regular-season conference victories going back to 2003.
Middle blocker Jordan Burkholder (Jr., Rockford, Ill./Christian Life) collected a team-high 19 kills with a .581 attack percentage (19 kills, 1 error, 31 attempts) and four block assists, while outside hitter Michelle Madeja (Jr., Naperville, Ill.,/Neuqua Valley) had 18 kills and hit .244 with 23 digs. Setter Drewann Pancratz (Jr., Schaumburg, Ill.) averaged 14.75 assists per set.
Carthage plays host to CCIW-opponent Elmhurst College (10-7, 2-1 CCIW) on Tuesday, Oct. 5 in a 7 p.m. match at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
