The Carthage College women's swimming team (4-2 dual-meet record) split a Saturday, Jan. 9 for triangular at the University of Chicago's Ratner Athletic Center. The Lady Reds defeated Kalamazoo College, 129.50-101.50 but fell to the host-Maroons by a 175-62 margin. Carthage's Amanda Croix (Jr., Bradley, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) won both the 100 freestyle (53.56) and the 200 freestyle (1:56.20). Michelle Pelka (Jr., Elgin, Ill./Elgin Academy) won the 200 individual medley (2:14.19) while finishing third in the 500 freestyle (5:24.15). Jensena Paul (So., Portage, Wis.) took third place in the 100 backstroke (1:04.18). The Lady Reds travel to Evanston, Ill., on Saturday, Jan. 16 to take on Lewis University in a 1 p.m. meet at Northwestern University's Norris Aquatics Center.
