The Carthage College women's track and field team (6-1) played host to and finished second at the Friday-Saturday, Jan. 15-16 Private College Invitational at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center in Kenosha, Wis. North Central College won the eight-team event with 182.50 points, followed by Carthage second at 137.50, Carroll University third at 117, Olivet Nazarene University fourth at 85.50, Concordia University (Wis.) fifth at 33, the Milwaukee School of Engineering sixth at 48, Ripon College seventh at 32 and Concordia University (Chicago) eighth with seven points.
Carthage's Molly Chlum (So., Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) won the 55-meter dash (7.57) and finished third in the 200-meter dash (27.97). The Lady Reds also collected wins from Teresina Watson (Jr., Racine, Wis./Walden III) in the 400-meter dash (1:03.48), Ahvia Greene (Jr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) in the weight throw (NCAA-provisional 52-10 ¾) and Sarah Thompson (So., Byron, Ill.) in the pentathlon (2,855 points). Mindy Harrington (Jr., Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond-Burton) took second place in the weight throw (52-1 ¼) and third in the shot put (38-0). Christine Nelson (So., Rock City, Ill./Dakota) was second in the pentathlon (2,802 points). Courtney Conrad finished third in the pentathlon (2,545 points) as did Joslyn Drew (So., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) in the triple jump (34-0 ¾). Carthage travels to Whitewater, Wis., on Saturday, Jan. 23 for the Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse, beginning at 10 a.m.
